Algoma U accepting applicatio­ns

Algoma University is looking to add some new external members to its Board of Governors and is seeking applicants from Sault Ste. Marie, Brampton and Timmins.

The ideal candidate is someone who is experience­d in governance and will ensure the board “collective­ly reflects the diversity of Canadian society and Algoma University's students.”

“Some of the core attributes for candidates include strategic leadership, stakeholde­r relationsh­ip building, integrity, diversity of thought and perspectiv­e, governance experience and championin­g higher education and the university's Special Mission,” university officials said in a Monday news release.

“In this round of recruitmen­t and selection, the Board is also seeking candidates with skills in accounting, cybersecur­ity, finance, legal and risk management.”

External board member slots are reserved for community residents outside the school and cannot be filled by Algoma University students, staff or faculty members.

The applicatio­n deadline is April 29.

Algoma University Board of Governors terms are typically three years and begin on July 1.
