Eastern School Board’s new CEO
Eastern School Board Chair Milton Peach has announced the appointment of Ford Rice as the board’s new CEO/Director of Education.
Mr. Rice has been the acting CEO since Apr. 28. He replaces Darrin Pike, who was recently appointed Deputy Minister, Department of Education.
Mr. Peach suggested “Mr. Rice’s combination of education, experience and leadership in the education field, and in the Eastern School District,
will ensure a seamless transition at the senior management level. Mr. Rice shares the Board’s vision for student achievement and success.
“He was an integral part of the development of the Board’s Strategic Plan 2008-2011, and we look forward to his continued leadership as we further implement the plan’s goals and objectives.”
Prior to this most recent appointment, Mr. Rice held the position of Assistant Director of Education (Programs) with the Eastern School District. In his 28-year career in education, he held a number of teaching and administrative positions throughout the province, as well as
a number of senior management positions with Eastern School District. Mr. Rice’s appointment is effective immediately. The Eastern School District is the largest school district in the province with approximately 42,000 students, 121 schools and over 4,000 employees.
