Design work coming for rec facilities
Burin-Placentia West MHA Clyde Jackman announced government has come through with funding to carry out more planning work for proposed upgrades to the recreation infrastructure in Marystown.
The town is looking to build a wellness centre with a new yearround swimming pool, including a walking track and fitness area, and is seeking to make improvements to the community’s ice rink.
A previous feasibility study determined constructing a single building, with both a pool and arena, would be too costly a venture, which resulted in the shift in plans.
Mr. Jackman said “This is $125,000 to get into more of the specifics around the type of design work that needs to be done and such. Hopefully, this will lead us into the process whereby we make the facilities a reality.”
