New fire equipment for Garnish
Grand Bank District MHA Darin King has confirmed a $10,000 Special Assistant Grant has been approved for the Town of Garnish.
Acting Municipal Affairs Minister Tom Hedderson announced the funding for the purchase of new equipment for the Garnish Volunteer Fire Department.
The funding will allow the Garnish Volunteer Fire Department to purchase two sets of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (S.C.B.A.) complete with case and cylinder, giving them the necessary safety equipment to respond to emergency situations.
Mr. King explained “Firefighters provide an essential service within our communities. These volunteers are unique whereby they are often called upon to provide assistance in very dangerous situations.
“ This continued commitment by our government assists them in ensuring they have the necessary equipment to respond.”
This funding was approved under the new 90-10 costshare arrangement announced by provincial government last year as part of the Municipal Capital Works Program (MCW).
The Municipal Capital Works program fosters the development of cost-shared projects in a wide range of municipal infrastructure, including water and wastewater treatment, roads, recreational facilities and fire equipment.
