Proposals called for Targeted Initiative for Older Workers
Eligible community-based organizations are being encouraged to submit proposals for another ‘ Targeted Initiative for Older Workers’ program.
Proposals are invited from community-based organizations to design and deliver targeted initiatives for unemployed older workers who are: - between 55 and 64 years of age; - lacking skills for successful integration into new employment; and
- living in communities where an estimated 20 per cent of the community’s labour force has relied on an industry affected by downsizing or closure.
Eligible projects should be:
- Linked to local economic development plans and initiatives;
- Involve a minimum of 25 hours per week of programming;
- Include vocational and/or learning assessments; basic skills upgrading; skills training; mentoring; work experience; preparation for self-employment; job development and job search services; and employment counseling.
Eligible sponsors are communitybased organizations with expertise in the delivery of employment programming.
The deadline for submissions is Feb. 19, 2010.
