Ed­u­ca­tion Week 2010

Ed­u­ca­tion Week in New­found­land and Labrador is sched­uled Mar. 7-13. This year’s theme is ‘ My Place • Ma place’. New­found­land and Labrador Teach­ers’ As­so­ci­a­tion Pres­i­dent Lily B. Cole ex­plained “ The pur­pose of Ed­u­ca­tion Week is to cel­e­brate ed­u­ca­tion and to en­cour­age par­ents, com­mu­nity mem­bers and other ed­u­ca­tional stake­hold­ers to be­come more in­volved with ed­u­ca­tion, along with stu­dents and teach­ers.

“Our sub-themes al­low stu­dents to look at their place within home, com­mu­nity, prov­ince, coun­try and world, as well as tie the theme to New­found­land and Labrador her­itage and cul­ture.”

The open­ing cer­e­monies for Ed­u­ca­tion Week 2010 will take place on Mon­day, Mar. 8 at Templeton Academy in Mead­ows in the Bay of Is­lands on the west coast.

The NLTA spon­sors and or­ga­nizes Ed­u­ca­tion Week in this prov­ince. It has been spon­sor­ing Ed­u­ca­tion Week since 1936. A pro­vin­cial com­mit­tee of teacher vol­un­teers or­ga­nizes the event.
