Police seek public’s assistance
The Burin Peninsula District RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a break and enter, a case of theft and property damage in the Marystown-Burin area.
A cabin in the Green Hill area of Burin was broken into sometime July 5-12. Quantities of rum, along with a generator, were stolen.
A number of signs have recently been stolen in the Mooring Cove area, near the OCI fish plant. This is a serious offence as these signs are meant to safely direct the proper flow of traffic.
Stealing road signs can lead to a number of motor vehicle collisions, ranging from minor fender benders to serious fatalities. The possible consequences of such action are being charged with theft, mischief and/or mischief causing endangerment to life and manslaughter.
The last two offences carry a maximum sentence of life in prison.
And damage was done to a bench in Black Duck Cove May 15. The bench was located at the end of Spar Crescent.
