The Southern Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

Marystown Coun. Dave Brenton described a conference call with the YMCA earlier this month as positive. The town is hoping to come to an arrangement with the organization to operate its new $11.5 million recreation complex once built.

Coun. Brenton, who co-chaired the committee that oversaw council’s effort to lobby government for funding, noted the YMCA’S main person in Canada for opening new centres was on the other end of the call.

“Really, our request to them was to give us a typical operational structure in a partnership between the ‘ Y’ and the town, and they said they would do that.”

He also indicated consultants Sheppard Case should have a design of the facility ready by next February or March.
