Marystown Minor Hockey report
The Marystown Mariners Scotiabank Atoms won the bronze medal in the ‘A’ division at the 39th Clarenville Atom Invitational tournament Feb. 12.
The annual tournament was one of the largest in history with a record 12 teams participating. This year’s tournament also saw another division added, bringing the number of championship trophies awarded to three.
Marystown edged the Conception Bay North Ceebees 2-1 on goals by Jared Cluett and Liam Best.
Marystown also played the Ceebees for the bronze in the ‘B’ division but lost the affair 3-1.
In regular Marystown Minor Hockey Association play last week, Mary Brown’s tied Clear Focus 5-5 in the Foodtown Bantam division. In the rematch, Mary Brown’s edged out Clear Focus 6- 5. The Shoppers Drug Mart Players of the Week were Phillip Hanrahan and Jay Coady for Mary Brown’s and Cameron Drake and Jarrett Walters for Clear Focus.
In the Grant Thornton Pee Wee division, the Ocean Choice International Players of the Week were Luke Jones of Brenkir, Joey Oldford of Community Credit Union and Jake Warren with Evans’ Sales and Service.
Peninsula Physiotherapy defeated Subway 6-2 in the Wally Drake’s Trucking Midget division. The Marystown Lions Club Players of the Week were Joey Pittman of Peninsula Physiotherapy and Josh Parsons of Subway.
In the Timbit division, the Scotiabank Players of the Week were Liam Smith and Malcolm Fizzard for Marystown Ford and Kylee Ilnicki and Brady Jones for Aylwards Home Centre.
Burin Pharmacy topped Mcdonald’s 4-1 in the Maritime Movers and Storage Senior Girls’ division. The Scotiabank Players of the Week were Chelsea Riggs of Burin Pharmacy and Taylor Stone of Mcdonalds.
