Peninsula road repairs tendered
Repairs to infrastructure on the Burin Peninsula are scheduled as part of the annual Provincial Roads Improvement Program.
Transportation and Works Minister Tom Hedderson said government is moving ahead with important road improvement work on the Burin Peninsula this construction season.
“The work in this tender will help ensure that the Allan’s Island Causeway, an important transportation link in the area, is properly maintained for the benefit of those travelling in the region.”
A tender has been called for the enhancement of rock fill and armour stone on sections of the Allan’s Island Causeway. Also included in the tender are repairs to a large culvert on Route 220 at Lawn River.
Grand Bank MHA Darin King indicated “This work will help ensure the transportation network in the region will continue to serve communities well.”
Repairs to the stabilizing materials of a large culvert at Rattle Brook on Route 215 toward Petit Forte are also included in this tender.
Burin-Placentia West MHA Clyde Jackman said “I am pleased this project will be completed, as it will help ensure the integrity of this structure and the Petit Forte Road.”
