Al­most a nine cent drop for gas

The Pub­lic Util­i­ties Board lopped an­other 4.4 cents a litre off the price of gaso­line last week, af­ter dropped the price 4.3 cpl a week ear­lier.

The al­most nine cent trim meant Burin Penin­sula mo­torists are driv­ing away from the gas pumps af­ter pay­ing $1.341 cpl for reg­u­lar, self serve gaso­line. Full ser­vice rate is $1.371 while diesel, which saw a 2.6 cent drop, is $1.401.

The PUB set max­i­mum prices Thurs­day for all reg­u­lated pe­tro­leum prod­ucts in all ar­eas of the prov­ince.

Fur­nace and stove oils saw a de­cline of $1.49 a litre. Penin­sula cus­tomers now pay $1.0654 a litre for fur­nace oil and $1.1136 for stove oil.

While other fu­els went down, the price of propane heat­ing fuel went up 1.4 cpl to 82.6.

The next sched­uled price change is Thurs­day.
