Changes to employment programs payment system
The Department of Advanced Education and Skills has advised individuals who receive funding through employment programs under the federal-provincial Labour Market Development Agreement (LMDA) of changes to their payment schedule.
The changes are the result of a new computer system.
Of the 2,500 individuals receiving benefits, some 1,825 will experience a one-time change to the current payment schedule. Persons scheduled to receive a regular payment Mar. 13 will instead receive payment a week earlier Mar. 6.
Payments will then continue for the regular twoweek period starting Mar. 20. There is no change to the amount of benefits received.
If individuals receive payments through direct deposit, the new system will issue a direct deposit statement to the email address on file.
The Department of Advanced Education and Skills has sent letters to people who have client agreement files funded through the Federal-Provincial Labour Market Development Agreement outlining the new format.
Anyone with questions can contact their Agreement Manager, by calling the Labour Market and Career Information Hotline toll-free 1-800-563-6600, or visit the nearest Employment Centre.
