The Burin Peninsula Autism Support Group will also be beginning its regular monthly meeting the first Thursday of each month, starting Mar. 6 at its location in the Marystown Mall at 7 p.m.
Doggy Fashion Show
The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29 in Salt Pond, Burin, is hosting its first annual Doggy Fashion Show.
It’s scheduled Sunday, Mar. 23, starting at 2 p.m.
Awards for first, second and third prize pups will be presented for the best dressed and best behaved with a great personality dog you own.
Also there will be a canteen, 50/50 draw and lots of fun. Professionals in doggy fashion and grooming will be in attendance.

St. Giles Anglican Church in Garnish will hold a ‘Shrove Tuesday’ bean and pancake supper in the church basement Tues., Mar. 4, beginning 5 p.m.

The Burin Hospital Ladies Auxiliary will hold its regular monthly meeting Thurs., Mar. 27, at 8 p.m. at the hospital. All members are urged to attend. New members welcome and needed.
Afternoon Tea/Bake Sale
The United Church Women of Winterland will host an afternoon tea and bake sale Sat., Apr. 5, 2-4 p.m. in the Winterland Recreation Centre. Tickets available from any UCW member or at the door.

United Way support
United Way of NL has issued its annual Call for Proposals for Community Fund grants. This CFP invites registered charities to submit proposals supporting the impact areas identified by United Way. The funding is offered through support of individuals and organizations during United Way’s 2013 workplace campaign. In 2013, 50 community groups from throughout the province were recipients of 50 grants totaling $650,000.
Arts Funding Opportunities
The Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council ( NLAC) is now accepting applications for its Professional Project Grants Program ( for individual artists, groups, and non-profit arts organizations). Deadline is Tuesday, Mar.18,. Projects must start on/after May 15, 2014. The Marystown Lions Club is holding weekly crib games at the Lions Centre Wednesdays beginning at 8 p.m. Cash prizes awarded.
