Lawn Har­bour Author­ity re­ceives as­sis­tance

The Lawn Har­bour Author­ity is re­ceiv­ing a Spe­cial As­sis­tance Grant from the Depart­ment of Fish­eries and Aqua­cul­ture.

Grand Bank District MHA Darin King an­nounced the $3,000 fund­ing Wed­nes­day.

“The fund­ing will be used to carry out re­pairs to the wharf.”

The Spe­cial As­sis­tance Grant Pro­gram of the Depart­ment of Fish­eries and Aqua­cul­ture is de­signed to pro­vide sup­port to lo­cal har­bour au­thor­i­ties and fish­ery com­mit­tees in on-go­ing re­pairs and main­te­nance to their har­bours and in­fra­struc­ture.

Mr. King thanked to Min­is­ter Keith Hutch­ings for rec­og­niz­ing the need of com­mu­ni­ties in his district.

The MHA in­di­cated “It is im­por­tant that we all work to­gether to en­sure we pro­vide fa­cil­i­ties to al­low fish­er­per­sons to con­tinue mak­ing a liv­ing from the sea and our govern­ment continues to step-up in as­sist­ing those com­mit­tees that re­quire re­pairs to their fa­cil­i­ties.”

Since 2007, the Lawn Har­bour Author­ity has re­ceived $9,500 fund­ing.
