Lawn Harbour Authority receives assistance
The Lawn Harbour Authority is receiving a Special Assistance Grant from the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
Grand Bank District MHA Darin King announced the $3,000 funding Wednesday.
“The funding will be used to carry out repairs to the wharf.”
The Special Assistance Grant Program of the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture is designed to provide support to local harbour authorities and fishery committees in on-going repairs and maintenance to their harbours and infrastructure.
Mr. King thanked to Minister Keith Hutchings for recognizing the need of communities in his district.
The MHA indicated “It is important that we all work together to ensure we provide facilities to allow fisherpersons to continue making a living from the sea and our government continues to step-up in assisting those committees that require repairs to their facilities.”
Since 2007, the Lawn Harbour Authority has received $9,500 funding.
