Gas up, propane down

The price of gaso­line jumped sharply as propane took a nose­dive Thurs­day.

The Pub­lic Util­i­ties Board set max­i­mum prices for all reg­u­lated petroleum prod­ucts in the prov­ince. Changes to fuel prices in­cluded: - all types of gaso­line mo­tor fuel in­creased by up to 5.1 cents per litre (cpl);

- diesel mo­tor fuel in­creased by up to 1.3 cpl on the is­land; - fur­nace oil heat­ing in­creased by 0.74 cpl; - stove oil heat­ing fuel in­creased by 0.74 cpl; and, - propane heat­ing fuel de­creased by 7.2 cpl. It means a litre of self-serve gas is now $1.451 on the Burin Penin­sula, while full-ser­vice is $148.1. Diesel costs $1.417 a litre.

For heat­ing fu­els, fur­nace oil climbed to $1.0834 a litre, while stove oil jumped to $1.1316 and propane fell to 87.4 cpl.

The next sched­uled price change is Thurs­day.
