The Southern Gazette - - EDITOR’S VIEWPOINT -

The Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) is making $100,000 in funding available through the Solid Waste Management Innovation Fund.

It’s part of an effort to achieve modern waste management in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The fund provides a non-repayable maximum contribution of $15,000 to provincially-owned and or operated businesses, industry associations and non-profit organizations for initiatives that support solid waste management in the province at any stage of the waste management hierarchy – reduce, reuse, recycle or recover.

MMSB CEO Mike Samson said the organization is committed to fostering partnerships with local innovators and entrepreneurs who are developing new or improved technologies, products, services or processes that will help achieve its 50 per cent waste diversion target, as set out in the Provincial Solid Waste Management Strategy, and maximize economic and employment opportunities as well.

The deadline for applications is May 12.
