Light­house Pro­duc­tions awarded NLAC grant

Light­house Pro­duc­tions Inc. in Grand Bank has been awarded $6,000 from the New­found­land and Labrador Arts Coun­cil (NLAC) through its Pro­fes­sional Fes­ti­vals Pro­gram.

The fund­ing will sup­port this sum­mer’s 18th Grand Bank Re­gional Theatre Fes­ti­val.

Fif­teen grants, to­tal­ing $125,000, will be dis­persed amongst pro­fes­sional fes­ti­vals through­out the prov­ince un­der this year’s pro­gram, sup­port­ing costs re­lated to artist fees, tech­ni­cal costs, venue rental, ad­min­is­tra­tion costs, work­shop ses­sions and travel ex­penses.

“There are so many pro­fes­sional per­for­mances through­out the prov­ince for people to take in at the va­ri­ety of fes­ti­vals funded this year,” NLAC ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor Reg Win­sor ac­knowl­edged.

“A num­ber of these fes­ti­vals also in­clude valu­able pro­fes­sional de­vel­op­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties through work­shops and sem­i­nars, as well as ways for mem­bers of the pub­lic and vis­i­tors to en­gage with lo­cal, Cana­dian, and in­ter­na­tional artists.”

NLAC re­ceives an an­nual con­tri­bu­tion of $2.1 mil­lion from the provin­cial govern­ment for grant­ing pro­grams, pro­gram de­liv­ery, op­er­a­tions and com­mu­ni­ca­tions.
