Burin legion donates $3,000 to health care foundation
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 Burin donated $3,000 to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation Oct. 27.
Branch president Shirley Hodder said the funds came from the legion’s annual poppy drive.
“The poppy fund is used for the assistance of veterans and their families, as well as community enhancement,” she said.
Monies from the fund also go towards helping the local cadet movements in Burin and Marystown.
The money donated by the legion will go towards the foundation’s chemotherapy campaign for the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre.
The organization has been donating to the foundation since 2006 for a total of $12,000.
