The Francis Project was on the Burin Peninsula last week to offer Safe Talk training workshops in Marystown and Grand Bank.

The Francis Project operates under the umbrella of the Richard’s Legacy Foundation for Survivors of Suicide Loss, Inc.

Meghan Francis, a long-time volunteer with the foundation, spoke with Tina Davies, president of the Richard’s Legacy Foundation, in 2016 about the need for information for families or individuals on the Burin Peninsula who may be dealing with mental health issues or suicidal thoughts.

From that conversation, the Francis Project was born, named in memory of Meghan’s father, Todd Francis and brother Michael, who died by suicide last year.
