Stacey fam­ily presents me­mo­rial schol­ar­ship

MUN stu­dent Jes­sica Moul­ton re­ceives an­nual award

Barry Stacey and his wife Gla­dys were on hand again this year at Marys­town Cen­tral High School to present the Ch­eryl Stacey Me­mo­rial Award to a grad­u­ate of the school.

Jes­sica Moul­ton was this year’s re­cip­i­ent of the me­mo­rial schol­ar­ship.

“I am very grate­ful and ap­pre­cia­tive to have re­ceived the Ch­eryl Stacey Me­mo­rial Schol­ar­ship,” she told the South­ern Gazette on Dec. 22.

“I in­tend to put the money to good use in fund­ing my ed­u­ca­tion.”

Moul­ton is work­ing to­wards her bach­e­lor of sci­ence de­gree with a ma­jor in bio­chem­istry, and then in­tends to study medicine at Me­mo­rial Uni­ver­sity.

Jo­ce­lyn Lym­burner, Maria Kennedy, Lisa Young and Glenda Keat­ing came up with the idea for the schol­ar­ship fol­low­ing the death of their friend, Ch­eryl Stacey, who passed away on Oct. 17, 2016 fol­low­ing her bat­tle with breast can­cer.

She left be­hind daugh­ters Sarah and Chelsa, and hus­band Greg Bar­low.
