The province’s top male junior soccer player from a couple of years ago will be joining the Memorial SeaHawks this fall.

Burin Peninsula standout Brent Hennebury has committed to coach Jake Stanford’s men’s team for the 2018-19 AUS season.

“Brent will add skill and speed to our front line and will be a welcome addition to the program for many years to come,” said Stanford in a release from the school’s athletic department.

Hennebury is a six-foot forward from Holy Name of Mary Academy and a product of the provincial age-group programs.

A member of the 2017 Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Games program, he also plays with the St. Lawrence Laurentians of the provincial Challenge Cup men’s league.

He was the 2016 Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association’s junior player of the year.

“I feel I can bring a high level of play to the team and aid in the continued success of the program. The strengths of my game are my speed and flair, which I hope to put on display next season,” said Hennebury, in the release.

Brent Hennebury will suit up for the Memorial SeaHawks soccer squad this fall.
