Fortune Town Council met on Monday, Sept. 10. Following are highlights of items discussed at the meeting:

Council discussed the storage of fishing gear by a local fisherman in the parking lot of a popular walking trail in town.

It was decided in a recent meeting council will send notice to the fisherman to remove the gear from the lot.

A complaint was received from a business owner in the town of Fortune regarding outside purchases the town made for a roofing project completed under a job creation project. The

QQbusiness owner had submitted a quote to council for roofing materials but was not selected as another business on the Burin Peninsula came in with a lower quote.

Council suggested they follow up with the appropriate officials to see if quotes have to be handled in the same manner as tenders.

Council is looking into the need for a bus shelter on Haddock Road. A shelter was there in the past but it has since been removed. If they find a need for the shelter council will identify a location for it.

A target date for the opening of the Fortune Arena was set for Oct. 22.
