No charges following report of nude swimmer in Marystown
No charges were laid after a man was seen allegedly skinny dipping in the harbour near the Canning Bridge on Sunday, Sept. 23.
A spokesperson with the RCMP’s B Division’s Media Relations confirmed in an e-mail to The Southern Gazette on Monday, Sept. 24, that police did respond to a call on Sunday.
“This happened (Sunday) near Canning Bridge in Marystown. Police attended, there were no injuries,” read the e-mail.
“An investigation took place that deemed this was not a criminal matter and no charges will be laid.”
In response to a follow up email regarding the decision to not lay charges in the matter, a spokesperson for the RCMP explained, “there were a lot of factors at play in this particular investigation and it was determined Man seen allegedly swimming naked in the harbour in Marystown in the area of the Canning Bridge on Sunday, Sept 23.
that criminal charges were not the appropriate action in this case.”
