No charges fol­low­ing re­port of nude swim­mer in Marys­town

No charges were laid af­ter a man was seen al­legedly skinny dip­ping in the har­bour near the Can­ning Bridge on Sun­day, Sept. 23.

A spokesper­son with the RCMP’s B Di­vi­sion’s Me­dia Re­la­tions con­firmed in an e-mail to The South­ern Gazette on Mon­day, Sept. 24, that po­lice did re­spond to a call on Sun­day.

“This hap­pened (Sun­day) near Can­ning Bridge in Marys­town. Po­lice at­tended, there were no in­juries,” read the e-mail.

“An in­ves­ti­ga­tion took place that deemed this was not a crim­i­nal mat­ter and no charges will be laid.”

In re­sponse to a fol­low up email re­gard­ing the de­ci­sion to not lay charges in the mat­ter, a spokesper­son for the RCMP ex­plained, “there were a lot of fac­tors at play in this par­tic­u­lar in­ves­ti­ga­tion and it was de­ter­mined Man seen al­legedly swim­ming naked in the har­bour in Marys­town in the area of the Can­ning Bridge on Sun­day, Sept 23.

that crim­i­nal charges were not the ap­pro­pri­ate ac­tion in this case.”
