Great partnership between YMCA and Town of Marystown
The YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador has been working in partnership with the Town of Marystown at the Marystown Recreation Complex for nearly three years. The town is the owner and the YMCA is the operator of the facility. Since opening, thousands of residents and visitors have been engaged.
When the town decided to build the facility we were delighted to be asked to be the operator and we are delighted to be a part of the community. The YMCA offers needed, quality programs open to all.
Approximately 75 per cent of operating costs are off-set by YMCA revenue with the remainder covered by a town operating grant. In each of the last three years the operating grant has decreased and operations are performing better than planned.
Our most recent third-party administered member survey shows 84 per cent overall satisfaction. This is higher than the national average for YMCAs across the country. The highest score was on cleaning and maintenance at 97 per cent. We are serious about taking care of the town’s building and keeping it in as-new condition.
We want to thank everyone who responded from Marystown and area for telling us what they love about the YMCA and what we could improve.
We also want to thank our partners at the Town of Marystown. The mayor, deputy mayor, council, and staff are dedicated to their community and to our work together. Our employees, volunteers, and board look forward to many more years of working together.
