The Burin Peninsula Health Care Hospital Auxiliary is looking for new members. Meetings are held the last Thursday of each month at 8 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Burin hospital. Alternative Measures
The Burin Peninsula West Alternative Measures program needs volunteer mediators to help youth. Alternative Measures is a voluntary alternative to the court system. The Gran-For-Line Alternative Measures Program-Extrajudicial Sanctions is looking for volunteers in the Grand Bank-Fortune Area. Extrajudicial Sanctions is a non-profit, volunteer organization that provides an alternative to court proceedings for young people who have accepted responsibility for the offence they committed. The Marystown Special Olympics also needs volunteers. The group meets at Marystown Central High School gym each Monday at 6:30 p.m.
The Burin Peninsula SPCA is looking for volunteers to help with day-to-day operations at the shelter. Duties include walking and feeding animals and general shelter clean up. If you are interested in lending your time, please contact the shelter at 891-8000. Volunteers must be at least 19 years of age. Foster Families
