The Burin Penin­sula Health Care Hos­pi­tal Aux­il­iary is look­ing for new mem­bers. Meet­ings are held the last Thurs­day of each month at 8 p.m. in the cafe­te­ria at the Burin hos­pi­tal. The Burin Penin­sula West Al­ter­na­tive Mea­sures pro­gram needs vol­un­teer me­di­a­tors to help youth. Al­ter­na­tive Mea­sures is a vol­un­tary al­ter­na­tive to the court sys­tem. The Gran-For-Line Al­ter­na­tive Mea­sures Pro­gram-Ex­tra­ju­di­cial Sanc­tions is look­ing for vol­un­teers in the Grand Bank-For­tune Area. Ex­tra­ju­di­cial Sanc­tions is a non-profit, vol­un­teer or­ga­ni­za­tion that pro­vides an al­ter­na­tive to court pro­ceed­ings for young peo­ple who have ac­cepted re­spon­si­bil­ity for the of­fence they com­mit­ted. Spe­cial Olympics

The Marys­town Spe­cial Olympics also needs vol­un­teers. The group meets at Marys­town Cen­tral High School gym each Mon­day at 6:30 p.m.

SPCA

The Burin Penin­sula SPCA is look­ing for vol­un­teers to help with day-to-day op­er­a­tions at the shel­ter. Du­ties in­clude walk­ing and feed­ing an­i­mals and gen­eral shel­ter clean up.
