A busy summer of children and youth activities is already underway throughout Swift Current.

The excitement gets underway today (June 14) when Swift Current’s Community Services Division partners with the Swift Current Community Youth Initiative to put on the annual Youth Fest.

This event, aimed at students in Grades 5 to 9, runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Center. Participants can enjoy bounce houses, Henna, a s’mores station, and other activities and games. Those in attendance will be entered to win prizes including iride Passes. Free hot dogs will be offered.

Then on June 20th, the Community Services Division is partnering with Swift Current Skateboarding Inc. to put on a Skate Camp open to all ages and all abilities. This event takes place at Riverdene Park, with registration starting at 5 p.m. and instruction time from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Participants get a free hot dog and free instruction from experienced skateboarders. Participants are asked to bring their own skateboard or scooter and a helmet. In case of poor weather, the event will be moved to the Colonel Clifton Centre.

The Community Services Division is also gearing up for the annual Kiddies Day Parade on June 28 starting at 4 p.m. Entries must be at Memorial Park by 3:30 p.m. to be judged, and all participants will have the opportunity to get a free hot dog provided by the ACT & Shrine Club, and free ice cream provided by the City of Swift Current. Dress up, come out, and have a great time!

The City of Swift Current is also gearing up for the opening of Fairview Pool on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. The outdoor pool offers public swim and family swim times, as well as lane swimming and water fitness classes.
