Sum­mer Read­ing Club launches at the Swift Cur­rent Li­brary

An ex­cited group of chil­dren nois­ily set­tled in for an af­ter­noon of ac­tiv­i­ties at the July 5 launch of the TD Sum­mer Read­ing Club at the Swift Cur­rent Li­brary.

The pro­gram runs for the next six Thurs­day’s un­til Au­gust 16 at the Li­brary start­ing at 2 p.m.

The TD Sum­mer Read­ing Club is aimed at chil­dren aged two to five. This story-time pro­gram in­cludes books, rhyme,s fin­ger plays, crafts and pup­pet shows.

For the older set, the Maker Kids’ Club meets at 2 p.m. on Thurs­day’s from July 2 to Au­gust 16. This pro­gram is aimed at chil­dren aged six to 12.

The Maker Kids’ Club ses­sion on July 12 will be the sec­ond part of a make your own LED Boot.

A spe­cial event will be held July 19 when the Saskatchewan Sci­ence Cen­tre will present GO! Sci­ence. This af­ter­noon is geared to­wards chil­dren in Kinder­garten to Grade 6, and gives par­tic­i­pants an in­ter­ac­tive learn­ing op­por­tu­nity. The af­ter­noon starts at 1 p.m. with a ses­sion With Great Power, fol­lowed by Build­ing Bet­ter at 2 p.m. and Healthy Planet, Healthy Life at 3 p.m. Par­tic­i­pants can at­tend one or all of the three ses­sions. July 26 - Make an LED Flash­light.

Au­gust 2 - LEGO and Stik­bot Stop-mo­tion An­i­ma­tion.

Au­gust 9 - LED Butterfly Lan­terns.

Au­gust 16 - Read to a Don­key, and play with Sphero Bots.
