Dash dances way to Los Angeles
Brianna Dash, a student at The Dance Studio, is in the midst of a busy summer of dance.
While The Dance Studio held their year end recital back on June 2, the young dance enthusiast is busy pursuing a pair of summer dance opportunities.
She is currently is Los Angeles participating in the Be Discovered: Summer in LA Super Star Intensive from July 16 to 23. She pursued the opportunity to take part in this dance class after earning a scholarship during a dance competition earlier in the year.
While in Los Angeles the course participants will enjoy private group classes in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, salsa and other styles. They will also produce a music video, providing further insights into the life of a professional dancer.
During the dance year Dash was also awarded with a Most Promising Solo age 14-15 years, along with scholarship for To The Pointe summer intensive in Calgary.
Dash said she has been dancing since the age of four, and enjoys ballet, jazz, lyrical and musical theatre.
“I like it because there is always room to improve,” she said of her involvement in dance.
She spends four to five hours practicing ballet per week, and also takes solo tutoring. She was hoping the dance opportunity in Los Angeles would further fuel her love of dancing.
“I think it’ll really change my style of dancing, and change my perspective of it. Being a professional and the ways that they do it. It’ll just change everything.”
Miss Melissa Wallace, Director and Instructor at The Dance Studio, was excited for Dash’s chance to dance in Los Angeles.
“It happened because she works very hard. Her technique and the performance all came together, so she’s getting recognized and rewarded for all the hours that she puts in,” Wallace said.
