Midget 57’s near end of reg­u­lar sea­son

The Swift Cur­rent Midget AAA 57’s lost a pair of Saskatchewan Premier Base­ball League games in Regina to the White Sox on Tues­day.

The 57’s dropped the opener 13-3 when they were held to three hits. Brody Alexan­dre tripled and scored, while lead­off man Quinn Pate­naude hit a pair of sin­gles.

The 57’s dropped the sec­ond game 9-5 when the White Sox scored in five of the six in­nings that they hit in.

Right-fielder Hunter John­son hit his first home run of the sea­son in a los­ing cause. Nathan Mcin­nis and Lo­gan Fritzke each had two-hit out­ings for the 57’s. Mac Gross sin­gled, scored, and stole a base.

Satur­day, the Midget 57’s split a dou­ble header against the host Regina Wolf­pack.

They won the opener 8-6 when eight of nine hit­ters fin­ished with at least one hit, led by first base­man Gross with three hits, one run scored, and one run bat­ted in.

Alexan­dre tripled, sin­gled, scored and added two RBI’S. Fritzke dou­bled, sin­gled, stole a base, scored, and knocked home one run.

Nolan Klein earned the com­plete game win as he struck out six over seven in­nings.

The 57’s knocked out 15 hits in the sec­ond game, but made nine er­rors in a 20-15 loss. The 57’s put to­gether a pair of five-run in­nings, but the Wolf­pack had four in­nings of at least four runs.

Nic Bachiu fin­ished the game with three hits, four runs scored, one stolen base, and one RBI. Pate­naude also had three hits to go along with two walks, one run scored, and three RBI’S. Gross added three hits, one walk, one run, and one RBI.

The 57’s im­proved to 10-18 in the split with two games re­main­ing in the Saskatchewan Premier Midget AAA Base­ball League reg­u­lar sea­son.
