Joseph sets new Long Jump record at Tri Prov­ince meet

Four South­west ath­letes were on the track at the 2018 West­ern Cana­dian Tri Prov­ince Cham­pi­onship in Sher­wood Park, AB on July.

Lead­ing the way was Swift Cur­rent’s Scott Joseph with a new record in the U18 Boys Long Jump. Joseph sailed 6.63 me­ters to win gold and eclipse the pre­vi­ous record of 6.24 me­ters that was set in 2014.

The Colts stand­out also won sil­ver in the Triple Jump when he trav­eled 14.00 me­tres, which also passed the pre­vi­ous meet record. Joseph placed fifth in the 200 Me­tre Dash in 23.36 sec­onds. He also was sixth in the 100 Me­tre Dash in the pre­lim­i­nar­ies but did not start the fi­nal.

Joseph also ran the 4×100 Me­tre Re­lay as Team Sask C was sev­enth in 46.54 sec­onds.

Leader’s Jack­son Sit­ter also had a strong show­ing in the U18 Boys di­vi­sion as Team Sask won the U18 team ti­tle. Jack­son Sit­ter was fifth in Triple Jump with a top jump of 12.33 me­tres. He also placed sixth in Long Jump at 5.99 me­tres.

Leader’s Reed Sit­ter rep­re­sented Saskatchewan in three U16 Boys events. His top show­ing was sev­enth in Javelin at 27.96 me­tres. He also placed 10th in Shot Put with a 10.68-me­tre heave. Reed Sit­ter was 10th in Dis­cus as well when his best throw trav­elled 25.21 me­tres.

Swift Cur­rent’s Kalea Sauder also helped the U18 Saskatchewan squad to a team ti­tle. Her top re­sult was in the 4×100 Me­tre Re­lay where Team Sask C placed fifth in 54.18 sec­onds.

Sauder placed sev­enth in the U18 Long Jump with a top jump of 5.05 me­tres. She also placed 12th in the 100 Me­tre Dash in 13.71 sec­onds and in the 100 Me­tre Hur­dles in 17.47 sec­onds.
