Dancers pre­par­ing to join Bal­let Jor­gen for The Nut­cracker

A dozen dancers from across the South­west are re­hears­ing in or­der to join per­form­ers from Bal­let Jor­gen dur­ing their per­for­mance in Swift Cur­rent on Novem­ber 21.

The bal­let stu­dents from Swift Cur­rent, Shau­navon and Gull Lake have been re­hears­ing since the end of Septem­ber in ad­vance of Canada’s Bal­let Jor­gen’s sold out per­for­mance of The Nut­cracker: A Cana­dian Tra­di­tion as the fourth show in the Swift Cur­rent Arts Coun­cil’s Stars for Saskatchewan con­cert series.

The lo­cal dancers aged eight to 15 au­di­tioned for parts at The Dance Stu­dio on Sept. 25, and have been hold­ing weekly re­hearsals for the past six weeks to learn their parts.

Bal­let Jor­gen of­fers this per­for­mance op­por­tu­nity through their Lo­cal Par­tic­i­pant Pro­gram which gives young dancers a chance to per­form on stage with a pro­fes­sional dance com­pany.

The lo­cal dancers who will be per­form­ing dur­ing The Nut­cracker are: The Dance Stu­dio of Swift Cur­rent: Bri­anna Dash), Jade Philip­pon, Alex Car­leton, Ad­di­son Stus­rud, Jayne Ser­vice, Mikayla Young, Vic­to­ria Pegg. Shau­navon Dance Co: Molly Richard­son, Sloan Steven­son, Rea­gan Poppy, Lily Nel­son. Stu­dent from South­west Dance Co. Gull Lake: Au­tumn Ken­ing­ton.
