Wild­cats split with Rebels

The Swift Cur­rent Di­a­mond En­ergy Wild­cats re­turned to Saskatchewan Fe­male Midget AAA Hockey League ac­tion with a week­end split against the vis­it­ing Regina Rebels.

Satur­day, the Wild­cats lost 4-3 to the Rebels. They led 2-1 af­ter one pe­riod, trailed 3-2 af­ter two pe­ri­ods, be­fore each team scored in the third pe­riod.

Brynne Do­erk­sen, Tay­lor Lind, and Kate Wag­ner all scored in the loss with as­sists from Sara Ken­dall and Carissa Ho­gan.

Amaya Gi­raudier took the loss with 26 saves on 30 shots.

Hanna Bai­ley led the Rebels with two goals and one as­sist, while Shae­leyn My­ers and Neena Brick also scored. Chantel Weller earned the win with 24 saves on 27 shots.

Sun­day, the Wild­cats scored the first five goals in a 5-2 win over the Rebels. Brook­lyn Rublee led the way with a hat trick, while Sara Ken­dall and Crys­tal Wale also scored. Tay­lor Lind, Trista Labarowski, Ash­lee Wolfe, and Wag­ner added a pair of as­sists each. Madi­son Gar­rett added a sin­gle helper. Harper Davey earned the win with 41 saves.

Tavia Terry and Allee Ger­rard replied with late goals for the Rebels, who fin­ished the week­end in sec­ond spot in the SFMAAAHL with an 8-2-1-0 record.

The Wild­cats (3-4-0-1) will be on the road this week­end to visit the Prince Al­bert Bears (4-4-1-1).
