ALL BRANCHES Hackmatack Reading Club During open hours

Children in Grade 4 to 6 are invited to join the Hackmatack Children’s Choice Book Award reading club. Sign up at any of the library’s 10 branches to receive your own Hackmatack Pack to get started. Read five or more books in one category and vote for your favourite to win the Hackmatack Children’s Choice Book Award for 20202021.

Grab-and-Go Bags: I-CanBe-Anything Paper Dolls Until March 13 during open hours

This month we celebrate Internatio­nal Women’s Day, a day set aside to honour the women of today and throughout history, who have done amazing things. Women have been working toward equal rights with men for a very long time, and it’s thanks to their hard work that children today can dream of being anything they want when they grow up. Visit any of the library’s 10 branches to pick up this Grab-&-Go bag during branch open hours.

Scrapbooki­ng Club

Thursdays, 6 to 7:45 p.m. Adults can do their own scrapbooki­ng project with a group of people who want to share ideas and projects. Art Exhibit: Images de la Baie

Art Exhibit: Lynda Giles

This exhibit features the watercolou­r paintings and graphite drawings of artist Lynda Giles. She is a selftaught artist and an instructor with a passion for helping others discover their artistic abilities.

Free Low-Income Tax Program

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

A volunteer registered with Canada Revenue Agency will assist you with income tax returns by appointmen­t, or you can drop off your informatio­n (if you have signed a permission form available at the library). Returns will be filed electronic­ally by the volunteer. You must bring your income tax forms with you. Also bring all of your informatio­n slips, medical receipts (you can get a printout from your pharmacy), and any charitable donations slips. This free program is in partnershi­p with the Canada Revenue Agency Income

Tax Program and is for lowincome seniors and residents. Hours are subject to change.

Story Time with Waddles the Duck

Fridays, 10:30 to 11 a.m.

Caregivers and children six and younger can join us for stories and a take-home craft or activity.

Note: Space is limited so this program will be repeated two weeks in a row to allow more to attend. Please wear masks, register at least one week ahead for one of the two available slots, and arrive at least five minutes before to complete contact-tracing forms.

A Needlecraf­t Afternoon

Book Bundles

Tuesdays to Saturdays during open hours Stop in during open hours and pick up a Book Bundle. Book bundles are groupings of 3-4 titles on a particular topic or theme that are packaged and ready to take home. Save time when you are too hurried to browse, find reada-likes or gain exposure to new subjects and genres. Suggest new book bundles subjects. Library staff will do its best to put them together. Bubble Wrap Tree Saturday, March 6, 11 a.m.

Children aged three to five can paint a tree with bubble wrap. Note: Space is limited so registrati­on is required by March 5 by contacting the library. Only one parent/ guardian will be allowed to attend per household to allow for more children to be able to participat­e. Teen Craft Night: Rainbow Key Chain

Mid-Week Break: Solar Water Heating for Your Home

Wednesday, March 10, 12 to 1 p.m.

Barrie MacGregor installed a solar water system in his home 16 years ago and added a large system at the YMCA to supplement heating its pool. He will share his technical knowledge and the financial advantages of such a system. This presentati­on allows for a small audience and access via the computer program Zoom.
