“I want to thank my customers, I’m very thankful for every single one of them.”

Erin Fraser

Crystal Shoppe owner

Recently moving to the Wedgeport area from Pictou County in February, Erin’s Crystal Shoppe owner Erin Fraser is bringing something unique, sublime and healing to the community.

“As a little girl, I always loved to collect rocks and stuff outside if I saw anything that looked cool or shiny or anything like that,” says Fraser. “When my mother took me to a crystal shop when I was little, I fell right in love because I saw all the sparkly and pretty colours — it just really stuck with me throughout my years of growing up.”

Now 23, Fraser only recently decided to share her affinity for beautiful crystals with the world by establishing Erin’s Crystal Shoppe in September 2021.

“When I finally figured out what I wanted to do, I got into this and started off my own shop,” says Fraser, who meticulously researched crystal distributors in British Columbia for months before opening to the public.

Operating out of Fraser’s home, Erin’s Crystal Shoppe offers crystals (tumbled, freeform and carved), including rose quartz, labradorite, moss agate, tiger’s eye and more.

However, the business’ stocks more than crystals. Fraser has also created body scrubs (a top seller) and soaps infused with crystals to exfoliate while enriching the spirit.

“Infusing them into the body products definitely incorporates their healing properties and gives people that extra bit of healing because they’re using the body product that has the crystals’ energy inside of it,” says Fraser. “So, they get to sit and infuse and become more powerful.”

Offered online via Facebook and Instagram, Erin’s Crystal Shoppe products are available for nationwide shipping, as well as pick-up from her home headquarters. Additionally, the entrepreneur makes market appearances at market events such as The Mom Market.

Considering her first six months in business a success, Fraser says the response to Erin’s Crystal Shoppe, has been nothing short of amazing for a new business.

“This week alone, I’ve been packing about 10 orders, and I still have a few more to go. I would say that my response is pretty good for my business so far,” says Fraser. “It can only go up from here, so I’m very excited about that.”

Introducing something new to the local retail scene, Fraser notes teaching customers about her products and their benefits is an exciting experience for all — including herself.

“Everybody says that it’s pretty cool because they don’t see it often, so nobody really knows much about crystals,” says Fraser. “Whenever I meet people that don’t know anything about crystals, I love to talk about it and explain to them and help them to understand the properties of each crystal and educate them a little bit.”

Having dealt with mental health struggles in the past, Fraser has witnessed firsthand the therapeutic benefits of crystals. Guiding others on their journeys to bettering their health in mind, body and soul is the most fulfilling aspect of what she does.

“I’ve had most people come to me about anxiety and depression; I have quite a few crystals that help and have healing properties for those because I suffer from that myself,” says Fraser. “Starting people on their own crystal journeys, helping them to know the crystals, use them themselves and have the healing properties work for them, I love that aspect — it just makes everything so great for me.”

With plans to add more beautiful and healing crystals to her inventory, Fraser, a mom and senior care worker, continues to pursue her passion, hoping to make it her main hustle and someday own a storefront. Noting more market appearances are set for the spring and into the fall, she looks forward to meeting new customers while acknowledging her gratitude for her early supporters.

“I want to thank my customers, I’m very thankful for every single one of them — without them, none of this would be possible, and these six months wouldn’t have happened,” says Fraser. “I’m very thankful for every single one of my supporters.”
