- JOHN LAW POSTMEDIA NETWORK

Country is coming back to Meridian Centre.

Nashville band Old Dominion, with special guest Kira Isabella, will play the St. Catharines arena April 28.

Since emerging in 2014 with their first album, the band has scored three top 10 country hits in both Canada and the U.S., including Break Up With Him and Snapback. Currently headlining their own tour before opening for Miranda Lambert, the band won for breakthrough group/ duo of the year at last year’s American Country Countdown Awards, along with new vocal duo or group of the year honours at the Academy of Country Music Awards.

As part of its Canadian tour, the band is also playing London, Ottawa, Peterborough, Kitchener, Kingston and Toronto in April.

All are dates with Isabella, the 23-year-old Ottawa singer who won the Rising Star Award in 2012 with the Canadian Country Music Association. She then won for female artist of the year the next year. She’s also a twotime Juno nominee.

Heavily influenced by Shania Twain and Sheryl Crow, she has had nine songs break the top 30 on the Canadian country charts. She has performed with Carrie Underwood and Terri Clark.

The show will be Meridian Centre’s biggest county concert since Johnny Reid played last March.

Meridian Centre has capacity for about 6,000 people for concerts. Tickets are $39.50 and $49.50 and go on sale today at 10 a.m. at www.ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-855-985-5000, and Monday at 10 a.m. at the Meridian Centre box office.
