Man banned from Avondale stores for exposing genitals

-

A 22-year-old is no longer welcome at Avondale stores in Niagara Falls after he was caught exposing his genitals to female employees on several different occasions. Douglas Alexander, of Niagara Falls, appeared in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Thursday and pleaded guilty to three counts of committing an indecent act. “He’s obviously in need of counselling,” assistant Crown attorney Rick Monette said before the defendant was placed on probation for two years and ordered to steer clear of local Avondale stores. On July 11, 2016, court was told, Alexander was inside the Avondale on Kalar Road when the lone female employee realized his genitals were exposed. On July 12, Monette said, Alexander went to the Avondale on Highland Avenue and committed the same offence. Seven days later he returned to the Kalar Road store and exposed his genitals to the same employee. Court was told store surveillance cameras captured each incident. Also in July, Monnette said, Niagara Regional Police received three reports of Alexander exposing himself to female pedestrians. In one case, a woman was crossing Lundy’s Lane when Alexander, sitting in a pickup truck, asked her for directions. When the woman approached, she observed the man’s penis was exposed and he was masturbating. Similar incidents occurred on Preakness Street and Barker Street. Court was told the defendant, a first-time offender, was “going through a rough period in his life” at the time.
