Be patient, Stevensville motorists
As part of an increasing morning commute’s exodus of vehicles heading north on Stevensville Road to the QEW and beyond, I’ve been noticing a lack of patience on the part of more drivers trying to get to the intersection at Netherby Road.
The trick is to take the little offset jaunt on Snyder Road and then cut back in, resuming the trek north, now ahead of several vehicles which are further delayed by this tactic.
It is probable that this busy intersection will get a full set of traffic lights in the spring, subject to Niagara Region’s budget approval, but in the meantime it would be proper if everyone simply waited their turn.
With the population increase in Niagara and the corresponding demands put on transportation infrastructure, the traffic lights would be a welcome addition, to co-ordinate the flow of tourists, shoppers, commuters and commercial drivers through the hub of this very busy northsouth artery.
The hotel proprietor on the northwest corner stymied that shortcut manoeuvre of southerly drivers on Stevensville Road by constructing a barrier. I realize it’s not possible to do anything like that to stop those taking the Snyder Road detour, but certainly some mutual courtesy is in order as we are all trying to get through, in the usual stop-and-go fashion, for now.
