Revive the Rose set to blossom

Welland rock band Revive the Rose has big plans for the new year.

The band recently released a music video for its latest single, 9 to 5, which lead singer Andrew Colonico says is about working a job you hate.

Colonico says in the first week of its release the video had more than 1,700 views on YouTube.

The song will be featured on the band’s upcoming self-titled, full-length album.

And no — none of the band members have jobs they hate at the moment, he quips.

Street Pharmacy vocalist and guitarist Ryan Guay is producing the album.

Colonico says the partnership was a natural one because they have known each other for about 10 years. And despite having different sounds, Street Pharmacy, also from Welland, being more reggae, Colonico says the bands complement one another.

Revive the Rose will produce the album in March and it should be available shortly after that.

The single 9 to 5 is now available on iTunes, Sound Cloud and Spotify.

Revive the Rose is set to perform next year with Street Pharmacy during the Welland Migrant’s Tour. Revive the Rose will open for the band at 13 venues across southern Ontario, three shows in Niagara. The first concert is an acoustic set Jan. 4 at Welland Public Library. Colonico says the biggest show in Niagara is Jan. 26 at The Warehouse in St. Catharines.

“People can expect a riot at the shows,” he says. “It will be a classic party with good music.”
