LOOK OUT FOR THIS GUY
Justin Brazeau, right wing, North Bay Battalion
Born: Feb. 2, 1998 Hometown:
New Liskeard Height: 6-foot-5 Weight:
221 pounds
Living the dream:
The third-year Trooper racked up five goals and eight points in three games, adding up to 80 per cent of his team's offence. He scored the game winner against Mississauga and buried a hat trick, including another game-deciding goal, against Barrie. He even assisted on Luke Burghardt's Teddy Bear Toss tally.
Story so far:
Head coach Stan Butler, who moved into fourth all-time in OHL coaching wins with the Steelheads triumph, said it best when Brazeau was named player of the week. "Not bad for a 13th rounder." This is another perfect example of finding a gem late in the OHL draft. He attended Blue Jackets camp this past fall and previously skated in a rookie tournament for the Red Wings. He's a northern boy skating on a northern team with all his potential pointing upwards.
The numbers:
The 19-year-old already has 23 goals — one more than he scored last year. He's leading North Bay offensively and the Battalion are finally winning a lot of the close games they weren't early in the season. They're making the Eastern Conference and Central Division races interesting.
