Rob Macdonald has become comfortabl­e in the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League rather quickly.

The rookie out of Hamilton currently holds down the third spot in the men’s high average category, and only strengthen­ed that position by tossing a healthy 854 (259, 267, 328) to spark the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints to a 3-0 blanking of the Wine Place Whiners.

Mike Owen helped the cause, adding 692 (258, 250) for the winners.

The Whiners replied with Sara Kennedy’s 726 (290, 214, 222) and Norm Stup’s 666 (249, 219).

In other matches, the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks took two of three from the Lakeside Electrical Lightning. Rob Fisher continued along at his torrid pace, leading the Canucks with a super 837 (255, 304, 278), while being pushed along by Dave Pendlebury’s 713 (205, 247, 261).

The Lightning struck back with Tyler Wendel’s solid 771 (243, 255, 273) and Shawn Pellizari’s 651 (246, 219).

In the evening’s closest match, decided by only 14 pins, the Crossfire Wrestling Piledriver­s edged the Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s 2-1. Wilma Vanderzwaa­g took the reins for the Piledriver­s, leading the way with an excellent 794 (267, 331) while Chantal Papineau provided backup, rolling 754 (275, 257, 222).

Paul Asselin led the Hammerhead­s’ reply, tossing 762 (321, 212, 229) while Wendy Bonnette backed him up with 683 (211, 271).

In the evening ’s final match, another close one decided by only 52 pins, the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers defeated the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic 2-1. Myke Mercier paced the Town Criers with a super 764 (232, 246, 286) while getting help from Chris Disher’s 699 (256, 261) and Fern French who chipped in with 684 (235, 288).

The Magic returned fire with Matt Kowalyk’s 726 (236, 253, 237), Joanne Durocher’s 697 (236, 241) and Brian McFarlane who rounded things out with 684 (246, 258).
