Generals march into bantam football finals
The Niagara Generals are sending its bantam team to the finals in Ontario Football League action on the weekend.
In bantam playoffs, the Niagara Generals outlasted the Burlington Stampeders 22- 10 in a semifinal matchup.
Nick Longo had two rushing touchdowns. Jackson Stewart threw a touchdown pass to Longo.
The entire defence gave an outstanding performance with Longo the player of the game.
Niagara Generals will play the Vaughan Rebels for the championship on Saturday in Cambridge at 7:30 p.m.
The Generals also suffered a pair of semifinal losses.
Scarborough Thunder defeated Niagara General 45-32 in atom division playoffs.
Ezekiel Langendoen scored four touchdowns for the Generals and added a pair of point-after-touchdowns. Benjamin Kolodziejczak scored one touchdown.
In peewee playoffs, the Brantford Bisons defeated Niagara Generals 37-13. Austin Macrae and Braiden Genest scored one touchdown each. Jake Portolesi had a point-after-touchdown.
“Although we took the loss … I could not be more proud,” said head coach Bruce Macrae. “Those boys left it all on the field today. Coming off the field after a disappointing loss (they were) laughing smiling and hugging. They became a family, and this is why I became a coach.”
