Chicago checks into Fallsview Casino in April

- JOHN LAW

Chicago makes its return to Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort this spring.

The venerable group, now in its 52nd year, heads back to the Avalon Ballroom for a pair of shows April 3 and 4.

Among the top-selling bands in music history, the group had a handful of huge hits in the ’70s (“If You Leave Me Now,” “Saturday in the Park”), before singer Peter Cetera and Canadian producer David Foster brought them to even greater heights in the early ’80s with “Hard to Say I’m Sorry,” which hit No. 1 in both the U.S. and Canada.

Cetera, who played Fallsview last June, left the band in 1985 and was not part of the group’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

Tickets start at $80 for the shows.

Also returning to the Avalon Ballroom in April is Grammy-winner BJ Thomas. Though best-known for “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” his hits include “I Just Can’t Help Believing” and “Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song.” Tickets start at $25.

Rounding out the April lineup is the a cappella act Straight No Chaser, April 26 and 27 ($30); Mimi Choo April 28 and 29 ($85); and an extended run of Legends in Concert April 10 to 18 ($30).

Tickets for all the shows are available at the Fallsview box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and www.ticketmaster.ca.
