Welland man faces sex charges

A Welland man faces two charges following an investigation into allegations of a historical sexual assault more than a decade ago.

Niagara Regional Police said Robert Edward Austin Anderson,53, was arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation on Thursday.

A release from police said members of the sexual assault unit started an investigation in August of last year and that the incident was alleged to have occurred between September and October of 2004 in Welland.

It involved a male who was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
