Chris Trivieri is coming home to continue his career working with hockey players behind the scene.

After spending last season as head athletic therapist and strength coach with the Kingston Frontenacs, the Welland native and Brock University graduate will have the same position with the Niagara IceDogs for the 201920 Ontario Hockey League season.

“Being a native of the Niagara region, I am honoured to be joining the IceDogs family. The IceDogs are a great junior organization with an NHL mentality,” he said. “They are dedicated to winning and preparing their players for the next level.

“Year in and year out, they are a competitive club that always seems to be in the mix come playoff time.”

Trivieri has experience at many levels of hockey which he brings to the IceDogs training table. Before joining the Frontenacs, he worked in the Western Hockey League serving as the Brandon Wheat Kings’ head athletic therapist, strength coach and equipment manager.

He spent two seasons with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League as a student ath

letic therapist while pursuing an honours in athletic therapy, orthopedics and rehabilitation at Sheridan College.

In 2017-18, Trivieri worked with Hockey Canada at its development camp for players 17 and younger.

General manager Joey Burke said the IceDogs are “thrilled” to be adding Trivieri to the team’s hockey staff.

“He brings a familiarity with the league that can’t be taught and will fit in great with our group,” Burke said. “Chris brings a passion to the role that we are excited to bring in, and I can’t wait to get going at camp.”

Trivieri earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education, health and physical education/ fitness from Brock in 2012, and an honours from Sheridan four years later. He has received certification from the Canadian Athletics Therapists Association.

Trivieri will in Niagara in time for the start of training camp this month.
