Niagara allows three unanswered goals in road loss in Peterborough

After earning a single point in an overtime road loss to the No. 10 team in the Canadian Hockey League rankings, Niagara IceDogs are right back at it hosting the seventh seed.
The Windsor Spitfires (11-3-2) hit the ice for today’s 7 p.m. puck drop at Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, sitting fourth in the Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference with four wins in their last five games. Thursday night, the IceDogs (6-11-3-1) lost for the seventh time in eight games when they dropped a 6-5 decision in overtime to the Peterborough Petes.
Niagara led 5-3 with 3:36 left in regulation, despite being outshot by a margin of nearly 2to-1.
Peterborough scored goals 2:04 apart to send the game to overtime, and netted the game winner 30 seconds into the extra frame.
Ivan Lodnia, with two goals, Oliver Castleman, Phil Tomasino and Jake Uberti scored for the IceDogs, who were outshot 45-24 and finished the game 2 for 4 on the power play.
The Petes, 3-of-5 with a man advantage, got scoring from Zach Gallant, two goals, including the game-winner; Mason McTavish, two, Declan Chisholm and Liam Kirk.
Rookie Tucker Tynan went the distance between the Niagara pipes and was tagged with the loss. Hunter Jones earned the victory in net for Peterborough.
It was the fourth road game in a row for the IceDogs, who last played at home Nov. 2.
Notes: Defenceman Isaac Enright was back in the IceDogs lineup after playing at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge … Lodnia earned secondstar honours with two goals and an assist in the loss to Peterborough … Defenceman Jacob Paquette, now with the Petes, and Adrien Beraldo, newly acquired by the IceDogs, were facing their former teams for the first time ...
