McFarland featured Holiday House Tour stop

Visitors to Niagara Parks’ oldest heritage property, McFarland House, will be able to experience an authentic Victorian Christmas during the first two weekends of December.

At 15927 Niagara Pkwy., McFarland House has stood for more than two centuries as a monument to the character, taste and living that epitomizes Niagaraon-the-Lake.

McFarland House will take part in the Niagara-on-the-Lake Rotary Holiday House Tour Dec. 6 to 8 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The event will allow visitors to tour McFarland House, which has been adorned with handmade decor from the Garden Club of Niagara and to experience what it would have looked like during a 19th-century Christmas.

Historic-recipe cider, authentic hot chocolate and hundreds of homemade Christmas cookies will be available for purchase.

Admission to McFarland House is $6.64 plus tax for adults and $4.42 plus tax for children 12 and under. More informatio­n about the Rotary Holiday House Tour can be found at niagaraont­helakerota­ry.ca.

McFarland House will open its doors again, Dec. 14 and 15 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., for guests to experience an authentic Victorian Christmas. Niagara Parks’ heritage team will present a variety of holiday demonstrat­ions and craft stations.

Admission for this event is $9.95 plus tax for adults and $7.95 plus tax for children 12 and under. Each guest will receive a beverage and package of Christmas cookies.
