Pancakes, eggs Benedict and more at Stacked
Growing breakfast franchise makes Niagara debut in St. Catharines
It hasn’t even been open for a month but a new breakfast joint in the city’s north end is already taking a bite out of the breakfast market in St. Catharines.
Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House made its debut in the Briarfield Shopping Centre on Nov. 9 and has been attracting a steady stream of customers with its robust menu offerings.
From eggs Benedict to omelettes, stacked hash to waffles and French toast, the menu bulges with tasty breakfast options. And of course, there are plenty of pancakes dressed up in many different ways including chocolate banana, strawberry cheesecake, white chocolate Oreo and double chocolate turtles.
“We have a comprehensive menu at competitive prices,” said franchisee Fakhar Mehmood.
“Our menu has pretty much every breakfast category covered.”
The most popular menu item so far? Definitely the pancakes, said Mehmood.
“We’ve been getting really good feedback on everything, really,” he said, adding customers are enjoying the quality, portion sizes and affordability.
Early risers can take advantage of the weekday breakfast special, available from 7 to 9 a.m., Monday through Friday. At $4.99, it includes two eggs served with bacon, ham or sausage, as well as home fries, toast and homemade strawberry jam. Mehmood said the jam itself has become quite a draw. “People love it,” he said. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., the menu goes beyond breakfast, offering up lunch service as well. Mehmood concedes that while anywhere from 70 to 80 per cent of their business is breakfast, that doesn’t meant they went light on the lunch offerings.
“There needs to be options for people who are coming here at lunch time,” he said.
The lunch menu features traditional diner fare such as Reuben and monte cristo sandwiches, soups, salads and burgers.
While this marks Stacked’s debut in Niagara, Mehmood said the franchise is already looking to expand further into the region with locations in other communities, including Wel- land and Fort Erie as possibil- ities.
