With Dad's hand reaching out to be reunited with his beloved wife, it is with extreme sadness the family of Shirlee Interisano (nee Prioli) announce the passing of our matriarch on Friday March 3rd at Port Colborne General Hospital in her 90th year. She was predeceased by her husband Dominic (2021) and is survived by her sons Joseph (Lorri) of Burlington, Michael (Bari) of Calgary, Marc (Cheryl) of Port Colborne, Vince (Allegra) of Guelph and Stephen (Janet) of Kimberley. Proud grandmother, and will be deeply missed but always remembered by, Monica (Brad), Theresa (Nick), Justin, and Nicholas. Great grandmother (GG) of Marleigh. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews who will miss her. Shirlee was predeceased by her parents Fortunato and Lena Prioli, sisters Frances, Eleanor, Mary, and brother Anthony. Shirlee was born and raised in Welland on March 28, 1933, and moved to Port Colborne when she married her high school sweetheart Dominic in 1955. Together they raised 5 boys who were the pride and joy of her life. Shirlee was a stay-at-home Mom until the boys were old enough to help with chores and then she pursued a career at Matheson Pharmacy. She was an active member and past president of the Catholic Women's League at Saint Therese of Lisieux Church. Many days were spent enjoying the company of the "Janet Street Women" with whom she dearly enjoyed the coffee and chats. Shirlee and Dominic enjoyed going to and hosting dinner parties with close friends with whom they also traveled. Retirement was enjoyed with more travel across Canada, an occasional trip to Vegas, and a couple of trips to Italy where she was able to connect with relatives. Mom did an amazing job of guiding five boys into becoming great men. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A private family burial will take place at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery and a celebration of life will occur at a future time. The Interisano family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Welland and Port Colborne General Hospital for the care they provided Mom. A special thank you from us to her PSW Paula and neighbour Carol for looking out for Mom while she was apart from Dad; truly and deeply appreciated. If so desired, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Niagara Health Foundation (https://ofnhs.akaraisin.com/ui/ inmemory/donations/start).
