LU choir in concert
The Laurentian University choir will present their fall concert on Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at SteAnne-des-pins, 14 Beech St.
The choir will be joined by the Sudbury Studio Singers, a 20-voice chamber choir who are launching their second season in Sudbury. The choirs will perform The Seasons, Haydn’s final oratorio, in what is believed to be the first performance in Sudbury. The work is unique in its secular setting of the rural seasons in the 18th century.
Guest soloists for the concert will be soprano Kathleen Promane, tenor Jason Lamont, and baritone Bradley Christensen. The choirs are conducted by Robert Hall. Ian Sadler from Stratford will accompany on organ; he will put the Ste-Anne-des-pins organ to the test. The pipe organ is the largest in Sudbury, having been transplanted to the church from Montreal when the building was constructed in 1995. The church is also known for its splendid acoustics, which will reverberate with the sounds of the 50-voice choir.
Advance tickets are available at Grove’s-YIG, and Jett Landry Music on Lasalle Boulevard. General admission is $20, and students and seniors cost $15.
