Police ID crash victim
The pedestrian who died Wednesday after being struck on the Kingsway has been identified as a 40-year-old man of no fixed address.
“His next of kin has been notified and out of respect for their wishes, we will not be releasing his name,” Greater Sudbury Police said in a tweet. “Our condolences go out to those affected by this tragic event.”
The victim was struck by a vehicle around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday on the Kingsway near Third Avenue, dying later of his injuries.
The police service said its traffic management unit continues to investigate and is still hoping a male driver who stopped at the scene will contact them to shed more light on the circumstances of the crash.
“Anyone with information related to the collision, the pedestrian or the driver of the lightcoloured SUV that stopped at the scene and may have witnessed the collision, is asked to contact police 705-675-9171,” the service said.
